Basic Purpose of Job:

  • Ensure that all allocated responsibilities are dealt with in accordance with agreed procedures & standards
  • Production of cost effective Instrument engineering reports, documents and deliverables for inclusion in workpacks and design books in conjunction with other members of the project team in a timely and efficient manner
  • Support the Lead Engineer in department activities

Key Duties:

  • Ensure that the work output of Instrument personnel under their supervision complies with the relevant, Client, national & international standards & procedures.  This will be generally be achieved by applying the Optimus Plus checking & approval procedure for all created documents, & calculations
  • Provide technical assistance to Instrument personnel as required.  This will include developing the knowledge and skills of the  Instrument personnel, including mentoring
  • Ensure as far as practically possible all assigned work is carried out in compliance with agreed budget and schedule
  • Be conversant and knowledgeable with respect to current and new legislation and standards e.g., BS, API and Client codes and standards, DCR and HS&E Regulations and EU Directives
  • Prepare engineering and construction scope for both man-hours and equipment estimates and assist in the review of proposed schedules
  • Ensure that results of any development work are fully utilised in Instrument activities
  • Provide technical assistance to other disciplines as required
  • Providing documentation and drawing deliverables for inclusion in workpacks and design books on time
  • Producing cost effective designs that are fit for purpose and safe
  • Participate as necessary in discussions with Clients and visit job sites as required
  • Assist the Lead Engineer when requested in the execution of their responsibilities and duties

About You

Qualifications / Experience required:

  • Degree in an Electrical / Instrument Engineering related discipline
  • HNC or equivalent in an Electrical / Instrument engineering related discipline
  • Knowledgeable in and practical application control and safety systems
  • Knowledgeable in and practical application hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Knowledgeable in and practical application control and shutdown valves
  • Skilled in Instrument engineering principles and their application in engineering projects
  • BOSIET Offshore survival certification (Desirable)
  • Current offshore medical certificate (Desirable)

  • Ability to be responsive and open to changing circumstances

For the position of Senior Instrument Engineer we are also willing to consider a Lead / Principal Designer who has the relevant experience that are looking to transfer to Engineer status and have or are looking at doing a relevant degree. Full training will be provided to these candidates.
